Abi and Alex booked me to photograph their intimate micro wedding in Maroon Bells, Colorado at the Maroon Bells Amphitheater just outside of Aspen. When you think of an intimate mountaintop wedding, you picture a gorgeous scene, right? This wedding was that and more. From the getting ready moments at their airbnb with the bride and groom’s closest friends and family to the end of the day reception that you’ll obsess over, this day couldn’t be better. We embraced the Colorado summertime weather and everything else that unfolded. Words cannot describe the beauty of this day and I cannot wait for you to scroll through each of these moments. If you’re dreaming of your own mountaintop wedding, I highly recommend considering a Maroon Bells Amphitheater wedding! Luckily, I’ll also explain all the different things to consider when planning your wedding here!
It’s all in the details, right? As a wedding photographer, I love photographing the little details of the wedding day almost as much as I love photographing the big moments. When it comes to weddings, details are so fun! Abi and Alex used intentional details all throughout their day. If you’re looking for inspiration for your own Colorado wedding, be sure to take note of these details! It might help!

Every single first look on a wedding day is truly special. Even more, though, is a first look on top of a mountain. Seriously, this moment took my breath away. How special is it that these two get to remember this moment and these views for the rest of their lives? If you’re considering getting married at the Maroon Bells Amphitheater, I highly encourage you to have your first look there too! There are tons of options throughout the location as well! Every single way you turn is beautiful. You’ll notice as you look through these images that the sun continually changed too. It truly doesn’t get better than sharing your wedding day vows at the amphitheater! As a photographer, I know I will remember this moment forever too.
If you’re considering having your wedding ceremony in Maroon Bells, there are a few things to note! Firstly, you’ll have to reserve the amphitheater a year in advance. Luckily, it’s only $200 to reserve it! But, be sure to plan to reserve it in advance. Additionally, there are a few rules and regulations to follow. Be sure to read them all prior to your ceremony.
Abi and Alex had their closest friends and family join them at the amphitheater. As a wedding guest, this would be such a special place to attend a wedding! There are benches built in for seating, which is incredible convenient! This couple also hired a live musician, and WOW. It brought chills. If you’re looking for a Colorado Wedding singer, be sure to hit up John Brewster Music! He’s incredible! Plus, he travels all across Colorado to perform at weddings!
Ideally, the best time of day for a ceremony at the Maroon Bells Amphitheater would be about 2 hours before sunset! Because Maroon Bells is located in the mountains, the sun can set quicker. You definitely want to make sure you have plenty of daylight to soak up the incredible Colorado views! I personally recommend a late afternoon wedding at Maroon Bells. Or, if you’re more of a morning person, a mid-morning ceremony would provide beautiful views as well!
Now for the reception. Abi and Alex had their wedding reception at an unbelievable Airbnb in the hills of Colorado. I kid you not – this wedding reception was on top of a mountain with the most stunning views on all sides. A picture may be worth a thousand words, but be sure to look through every one of these for a glimpse at the amazing evening. A wedding truly under the stars of Colorado. Carbondale was within an hour drive of the Maroon Bells Amphitheater, which was a good distance and even better location!
