When it comes to engagement photos in downtown Chicago, there are SO many amazing places to choose from! In fact, for most of my Chicago sessions, we typically try to do two locations! Some of my favorite downtown Chicago photo locations include:
- The Pearl Club (or other fun bars!)
- The Chicago Riverwalk
- North Ave !! Always bopping – especially in the summertime!
- Local restaurants + coffee shops
Things to Know Before Planning your Chicago Engagement Session:
1. Location Matters
Choosing the right location is crucial for setting the tone of the photoshoot. Downtown Chicago offers a diverse range of backdrops, from the iconic skyline to hidden alleyways brimming with character. Understanding the couple’s style and preferences helps narrow down the options and ensures a cohesive theme throughout the session.
2. Choose the Right Time of Day
Choosing a time of day in Chicago can be tricky, due to multiple factors. Firstly, you have to keep in mind rush hour and when the most people are at the location you choose! Typically, the sidewalks and roads get busier from 4-6pm (or earlier on a Friday). In general, the best time of day for your downtown Chicago engagement session is before rush hour or better yet, on a Sunday! Additionally, lighting matters in achieving the perfect tones for your photos. Personally, I love photographing during golden hour! When planning your engagement session, keep these things in mind!
3. Choose the Right Photographer
