About Alecca Synclair Photography

If we haven’t met yet, I’m so thankful you’re here. If you’re going to be spending one of the most important days of your life with someone, it’s helpful to get to know them first, right? Here’s a little about me. I was born and raised in a tiny town called Miles, Iowa. Tiny as in my town didn’t even have a stoplight. Crazy! I have always loved documenting things. Especially the candid moments in life. My senior year of college, I decided to take the plunge and buy an official wedding camera. The rest is history. After photographing my first wedding in Iowa, I realized becoming a full time Iowa and destination wedding photographer was my dream! Fast forward a few years and here we are! I still cannot believe that I get to document couples’ wedding days for my job.

Fun Facts About Alecca

  • I actually have an incredible Iowa associate team! that means if I am unavailable or out of budget for your wedding, I have a team of other photographers that shoot under me to photograph your wedding day! Read more information about the team here!

Questions to ask your Iowa Wedding Photographer

So, there are a million photographers out there, right? How do you chose one? What questions can you ask to be confident about the wedding photographer you hire? Whether the right photographer is myself or someone else, here are some questions to ask to help you decide!

  1. How long have you been photographing weddings? How many weddings have you photographed?
  2. What part of Iowa are you in? Do you travel?
  3. Will there be a travel fee for you to photograph my wedding?
  4. How would you define your photography style?

Firstly, start by inquiring with wedding photographers whose styles you are drawn too! Photographers all have unique styles, so reach out to the ones you love! Be sure to stalk their instagram and websites. It’s truly not creepy haha, it will help you get a feel for their work. Then, I always recommend hopping on a call with the photographers you are considering! It helps to get to know them in person. Make sure you vibe together. Is it someone you’d enjoy being around on your wedding day? Lastly, trust your gut. I cannot express this enough. Additionally, look at their reviews! Check Google, Facebook, etc. Reviews can go so far!

Where do I photograph in Iowa?

One of the most common questions I get is “do you travel”? Additionally, people like to know where in Iowa I photograph weddings. This is understandable! Personally, I travel all across the state of Iowa with no travel fees! I frequently photograph weddings in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, and Dubuque! Additionally, I’m only 2.5 hours away from Chicago and would be happy to photograph your wedding there. So, as an Iowa wedding photographer, I travel all across the state to serve my couples and document their wedding days. No matter where your wedding is in Iowa, I would love to be there!
