When it comes to booking your wedding photographer, it can be SO overwhelming. There are so many amazing photographers out there, so, how the heck do you choose one?! I feel you sister, friend!! That’s why I’m here to help! Take a deep breath and let’s dive in! Here are five questions to ask your wedding photographer before booking!
When it comes to your wedding day, those moments only happen once! So, when thinking of hiring a photographer to photograph your big day be sure they treat those precious moments as their own. Make sure they are using a dual slot camera. What does that mean? Essentially, having two card slots in a camera means that right away, there are already duplicates of every photo taken. AKA your photos have a smaller chance of being lost! Additionally, make sure your photographer backs up your photos immediately after the event. That way they are safe and sound!
Hiring a photographer that’s insured AND legal is critical. Doing those things makes sure everyone is covered and they are running their business ethically. Needless to say, make sure you are hiring a professional – someone who takes their job seriously.
Firstly, knowing the answer to this question is helpful in giving peace of mind! Wedding photos are precious. Because of that, odds are, you’ll be antsy to get them back. While turnaround times in the wedding industry can vary, most tend to be within 4-6 weeks. If it’s longer than that, make sure you’re asking why.
Honestly, not every wedding photographer is going to be the best fit for your day. Hearing their response to this question helps you see if they’re a good fit for you!
Apparently this is a controversial question, but I’m not sure why! Personally, it’s helpful to see how that photographer approaches every part of a wedding day. Everyone can take good photos during golden hour. What’s most important, though, is seeing if they can take good photos the entire day. NO MATTER the lighting situation. At the end of the day, hire a wedding photographer you trust and love ALL of their work – not just some of it.
As a wedding photographer and past bride myself, I’ve heard horror stories! The last thing anyone wants is to hire a photographer that isn’t the right fit for their wedding day. Be sure to ask your wedding photographer each of these questions.
